This policy explains how CTC International (maker of Cyntecian) uses cookies and similar technologies on cyntecian.com and in the Cyntecian applications, and how you can control them.

1. Overview

Cyntecian is a product of CTC International. This Cookie Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and explains what cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how you can manage them. By continuing to use Cyntecian you agree to the use of strictly necessary cookies. Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent where required by applicable law (including the EU/UK ePrivacy rules).

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let sites remember your actions and preferences (such as sign-in state or language) over time. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage and pixels. In this policy, "cookies" refers to all of these technologies unless stated otherwise.

Cookies can be "session" (deleted when you close the browser) or "persistent" (stored until they expire or you delete them), and either "first-party" (set by Cyntecian) or "third-party" (set by another domain that we integrate with).

3. Categories of cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary — required to authenticate you, maintain a secure session, load-balance traffic, and remember your consent choices. These cannot be turned off; without them the Services do not work.
  • Preferences — remember your workspace, theme, language and other UI choices so the product feels consistent between visits.
  • Analytics and performance — help us understand which pages and features are used so we can improve reliability and design. We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics with IP anonymisation.

We do not use advertising, marketing or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not share cookie data with ad networks.

4. Specific cookies and technologies

The most common items we set:

  • Authentication tokens (first-party, essential) — keep you signed in and identify your active workspace. Typically stored in secure, HTTP-only cookies and/or local storage.
  • Session identifier (first-party, essential) — protects against CSRF and session hijacking.
  • Consent state (first-party, essential) — records your cookie choices so we do not ask on every visit.
  • UI preferences (first-party, preferences) — theme, sidebar state, last-visited workspace.
  • Analytics events (first-party or first-party-proxied, analytics) — page views, feature usage and diagnostics, aggregated and IP-anonymised.

5. Third-party cookies

Where we embed content or use vetted service providers (for example our hosting, authentication or payment processor), those providers may set their own cookies strictly to deliver the requested functionality. We only work with subprocessors bound by written data-processing terms, listed in our Privacy Policy.

7. Browser controls

All modern browsers let you view, block and delete cookies. Instructions:

8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honour recognised Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out of non-essential analytics where GPC is legally binding. Because there is no common industry standard for "Do Not Track" (DNT), we do not respond to DNT headers, but you can achieve the equivalent by rejecting analytics cookies in our banner or settings.

9. Retention

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies typically expire between 30 days and 12 months, depending on their purpose. Consent-state cookies are kept for up to 12 months so we do not repeatedly prompt you.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use, legal requirements or product features. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted in-product or via email.
